The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) intends to visit Iran to discuss its compliance with international regulations. Mohammed ElBaradei will make the trip on July 9, it was announced Tuesday.

The visit comes after Iran's national security council chief, Hassan Rohani, asked ElBaradei to visit the Islamic Republic to discuss technical problems noted in the recent IAEA report.

On Monday, Iran's President Mohammad Khatami stated that his country has no intention of manufacturing nuclear weapons. During a meeting with the visiting British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, the Iranian leader called on the global community to treat all countries pursuing a nuclear energy program without discrimination.
