Insure direct (Brokers), Dubai-based leading supplier of insurance broking services, was named the Commercial Lines Broker of the Year at the inaugural Gulf Insurance Awards, held here recently.
Instituted by Gulf Insurance Review (GIR), the leading insurance industry magazine, the award recognised Insure Direct’s excellent performance in product and service innovation during the period.
The panel of judges also considered the leading broker’s facilitation of significant new partnerships, the development of existing long term relationships, innovation in niche markets and activity in underserved areas of the regional market.
Kenneth George Maw, President and Chief Executive, Insure Direct, who was also the runner up in the "Outstanding Contribution - Individual" Award Category, received the award at a gala ceremony held recently in Dubai. A high profile line up of guests including industry leaders and other dignitaries attended the event.

From the beginning we have been focused on identifying new areas and creating niche specific products. The pace of our expansion proves the success of this strategy.”
Gulf Insurance Review introduced the Gulf Insurance Awards to recognise the achievements made by players in the insurance industry. Winners in 13 categories were selected by a panel of industry experts in conjunction with the GIR team.
The award capped an impressive year of achievements for Insure Direct, when it stepped up strategic expansion plans through garnering new partnerships and entering new service sectors.
In 2009 the brokers entered key new service areas, including marine, energy, construction and related liability insurances following a merger with Independent Risk Solutions BV (IRS), specialist brokerage firm based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Insure Direct also expanded its market footprint to Abu Dhabi last year through a management service agreement with Lloyd & Co (Emirates), independent insurance brokers based in the capital.
Enhanced focus on niche-specific products helped Insure Direct come up with schemes such as the one for High-Performance/High Valued motor vehicles and the Yacht Scheme for luxury craft.
The company was named Best Broker in the Middle East at the Euromoney Insurance Awards 2009 where it also won the Best Favourable Contracts and Best in Efficiency awards, proving its all-round service excellence.
