ALBAWABA - According to a report by the Israeli Armed Forces, at least 24 soldiers have been killed during the ongoing battles on the ground in Gaza.
In a statement, army spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said the incident took place near the Kissufim border community as Hamas attacked the soldiers attempting to destroy the military infrastructure of the Palestinian resistance group.
Hagari said that fired a rocket-propelled grenade at an Israeli tank, while, simultaneously, an explosion caused two two-story buildings to collapse. Reports say that mines were planted across the two buildings in preparation for them to be leveled to the ground, which caused the massive explosion.
"The buildings collapsed due to this explosion, while most of the forces were inside and near them," Hagari added.
According to Hagari, an investigation has been launched into the incident to determine the cause of their detonation. The army published the names of 10 soldiers, while the families of the remaining 11 were notified.
Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel
Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.
Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.
In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
Since Israel launched its latest brutal aggression on Gaza, at least 25,295 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 63,000 have been injured, with injuries varying between minor and extreme.
According to the United Nations, the Israeli offensive has left 85% of Gaza’s population internally displaced amid extreme shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
