IDdesign, the Danish franchise of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, held an award ceremony at its showroom recently to announce the winners of the Emirates Home Magazine Survey.

Ansie van der Walt won furniture worth AED5,000 from IDdesign, Tom Dundas won a AED3,000 home makeover voucher courtesy of Dulux, and Elena Saveleva took home household appliances valued at AED2,000 from UAE retailer Better Life.

The survey conducted by Emirates Home magazine ran over two months and received entries from over 1500 readers. A detailed questionnaire covering topics like house rents, decorating the home, finance, purchasing habits and interior design preferences was part of the survey.

“With the local housing boom, there is unprecedented interest in the way people in the UAE have been addressing home decoration in the past few years. IDdesign, Better life and Dulux all complement each other when it comes to making a home a more enjoyable place to live,” said Ajai Dayal, General Manager, Retail and Marketing, Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group.

“The concept of the Emirates Homes survey was fascinating, and that’s why we decided to provide incentives for the exercise in the form of some great prizes. The survey has received an overwhelming response.”

The objective of the survey was to understand the attitudes of people towards home décor. According to the findings of the survey, a majority of respondents prefer to buy modern furniture, while some prefer to buy furniture only if their existing furniture needs replacement. For others, the quality of goods was a key deciding factor, followed by choice and cost.

"Given the changing landscape of the property market in the UAE, we felt it was essential to find out how property trends are affecting people’s attitudes towards their homes. The response to the survey was exceptionally positive, and it has enabled us to get to know our readers and their home habits better," says Zoe Moleshead, editor, Emirates Home.

The survey prize distribution ceremony was held at the IDdesign showroom located on Dubai-Sharjah Road. Muna Al Gurg, Marketing Manager, Easa Al Gurg Group; Maryam Al Gurg, General Manager, IDdesign; P. Surendran, Commercial Manager, IDdesign; Tony Myers, Managing Director, ICI Paints UK; Martin Bartley, Business Development Director, ICI Paints UK; and Philip Matthew, General Manager, Al Gurg Leigh Paints attended the ceremony.
