The Dubai Summer Surprises in association with their international media partners Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) embark on a two-week road show in the GCC to promote the numerous and exciting activities that await regional tourists during this year’s summer fiesta. The road show began on May 13, 2006 in Kuwait and after visiting Doha arrives in Bahrain on May 17, 2006 to take place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel before moving to Al Khobar, Riyadh, and finally Jeddah to complete this year’s regional blitz aimed at stimulating interest among GCC tour operators, travel agents and the media.

Mr. Saeed Al Nabouda, DSS CEO, announced the schedule of this year’s road show as part of the pre-opening publicity efforts of the DTCM. “The DSS over the years has attracted a growing number of tourists from the GCC because of the abundance of fun and exciting activities on offer during the summer. Dubai has probably the most impressive range of shopping and leisure destinations – from luxurious hotels and resorts to mega-shopping and entertainment complexes – which are a major attraction for our guests from the GCC.”

Added Al Nabouda, “Our regional road show has resulted in positive inbound tourist growth from Bahrain every year, and we are delighted to visit it again this year to sustain the growing interest of the local visitors.”

In addition to a host of new features and activities targeting the whole family, DSS 2006 introduces an exciting promotion aimed at capturing a growing number of tourists vacationing abroad for relaxation and rejuvenation through the Spas Promotion with the catch line “Spas That Make You Smile All Summer” which offers amazing treats in association with the various world-class spas in Dubai.

In each city, DTCM will be conducting workshops for key tour operators, travel agents and journalists to acquaint them with the line-up of activities scheduled for 2006, as well as tour packages especially prepared for tourists eager to come to Dubai for the DSS.

The Dubai Summer Surprises, which has become a popular and favourite fixture in tourism calendars, begins on June 21 and ends on September 1, 2006
