H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), today (Sunday, September 10, 2006) inaugurated the 13th OGS (Arab Oil & Gas Show) at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre (DIEC). The show, being held in Hall 4 of DIEC from September 10-12, 2006, is shaping up to be a definitive platform for petroleum industry professionals, investors, equipment and technology providers as it hosts 180 plus exhibitors from over 30 countries at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre this September.
In his inauguration address, H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) said, “OGS 2006 coincides with a construction and economic boom in the UAE. There has also been expansion in the energy sector, with Dubai achieving up to 17 percent energy growth against a 14-15 percent global average. The OGS has come into its own as a calendar event furthering the interests of regional companies operating in the oil and gas sector, and I am very pleased to see the Show achieve sustained growth in the number of exhibitors, products and visitors it attracts. I am hopeful that all participants will realize discernable bottom line results from their OGS participation.”

Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, IC&E, organizers of the event, said, “OGS 2006 is addressing the energy needs of growing economies by   providing refining, storage, manufacturing, transportation and distribution network technologies for conventional as well as new energy sources through our international exhibitors.”

The 13th edition of the annual event is also showcasing innovative technologies and services pertinent to the oil, gas and alternative energy sector through the Arab Instrumentation and Automation Exhibition (AIA). The AIA was set up as a discrete platform in 2005 due to increasing demand for a viable avenue to comprehensively explore cross-over process automation and control technologies in a region that accounts for nearly 60 per cent of the world’s proven oil reserves.

OGS 2006 is being held under the auspices of the UAE Ministry of Energy will be open to trade visitors from 10 am to 7 pm on all three days of the show.
