ALBAWABA- Heavy floods have wreaked havoc across multiple Gulf states, claiming dozens of lives and causing extensive damage to infrastructure. In Oman, yesterday's floods resulted in the tragic deaths of several schoolboys and inflicted significant destruction across various regions.
Today, torrential rains and flash floods continued to batter parts of the Gulf region, leading to widespread chaos with abandoned vehicles littering the streets of Dubai, UAE, Bahrain, and certain areas of Saudi Arabia.
Images of submerged streets in Dubai depict the severity of the situation as torrential rains and high winds lash the region.
Flight operations were disrupted in Dubai, while schools were closed in the UAE and Bahrain. The rains, which began overnight, left massive ponds on streets, and emergency personnel were deployed to navigate through the flooded areas.
The UAE, known for its arid climate, witnessed unusual rainfall, causing flooding in many areas due to inadequate drainage systems. Similar conditions were reported in Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
In Oman, the situation remains dire, with at least 18 people confirmed dead and several others missing.
Tragically, among the casualties were nine schoolchildren and three adults who were swept away in flash floods. The storms that originated in Oman subsequently affected neighboring countries, exacerbating the already dire situation.
