Gulf Air Sky Chef Jack Peacock joined a group of star chefs from across the globe in one of the biggest gourmet events held in Johannesburg, South Africa, to show his culinary skills in front of international food connoisseurs.

The three-day "Good Food and Wine Show," hailed as the country’s premier food, wine, lifestyle and gourmet travel show, had invited some of the  biggest names in the culinary world such as Anthony Worrall Thompson, James Martin, Brian Turner and James Tanner.

Representing the Middle East region and Gulf Air at the show, Jack took the audience through the preparation of a three course meal, showing them a sample of Gulf Air's award winning first class gourmet selection. He also had them actively take part in preparing a dish in a hands-on workshop.

"Gulf Air has become synonymous with first class dining experience," says Gulf Air Head of Inflight Services Michael Kent.

"Our qualified Sky chefs, with years of international experience in world class hotels and restaurants, backed by Gulf Air's award-winning in flight services, ensure our customers get nothing less than first class.

"This is a great opportunity to show how Gulf Air is passionate about design, delivery and service of its inflight catering."

Held as the grand event of the 'Gourmet Festival,' the 'Good Food and Wine Show' provides an authoritative platform for South Africa’s food, wine and hospitality industries to showcase their products to the culinary world outside Africa. The show also provides an opportunity for chefs representing international airline companies, hotels and restaurants and, individual celebrity chefs to introduce global culinary trends.

"I am very happy to have been given the chance to represent Gulf Air," says Jack. "It was a great but challenging opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the world's biggest names in the 'Chefing game' and show the talents of Gulf Air chefs."

Gulf Air has been winning a series of awards for it excellence in inflight dining experience. In March 2006, Gulf Air won the prestigious Mercury Award for 2005, taking the “Gold” in the on board service category and was also named the overall winner by the International Travel Catering Association (ITCA) for its innovation, quality in application and customer satisfaction within the wide sphere of onboard service.
