Kuwait Airways Corp. (KAC) said Monday one of its Airbus-300 planes aborted a take-off Monday after its tires burst, bringing air traffic at Kuwait International Airport to a halt for several hours.

One of the rear tires of the Airbus, on a flight to Paris via Rome, burst during takeoff, causing the other tires to blow out and forcing the plane to a complete halt, the statement said.

Since the airport's second runway was under maintenance, flights in and out of Kuwait were suspended for several hours until the plane was towed away for repairs, it said.

No passengers or crew were hurt during the aborted take-off.
