Green Packet Networks (GPN), a leading broadband wireless technology provider and Next Generation mobile solutions developer, has recently announced the appointment of Dr. Ali Al Mashat, former founding CEO of the Arab Satellite Communications Organisation (ARABSAT), as the Chairman of GPN.
The high-profile appointment is expected to strengthen the new company’s Middle Eastern presence and promote widespread penetration of GPN’s Self Organising Network (SON) wireless products, by drawing on Dr. Ali’s extensive experience in pioneering the early satellite revolution.
The global company, which launched its Bahrain-based operations in February 2007, offers an innovative SON product range that provides flexible multimedia and VoIP services, based on cost effective, fast and reliable technology that is independent of the backbone infrastructure.
Commenting on the appointment, Nik M. Ismail, Executive Director (Business Development) of Green Packet Berhad and a Director in GPN said, “We are thrilled that Dr. Ali has joined GPN, as we believe his expertise will contribute to the major success of the company, and dramatically bolster the capacity and integrity of the regional communications sector. Under his direction, Green Packet is well positioned to achieve its goals of providing cheaper, faster and more reliable broadband wireless solutions to the end users of the region.”
Dr. Ali Al Mashat joins GPN from ARABSAT - the Middle East’s largest satellite operator that was formed in 1976 to serve the growing communication needs of the Arab world. Prior to this, Dr. Ali also worked as a representative for the United Nations International Children’s Fund, (UNICEF) in both Iraq and France.
The new Chairman plans to launch an extensive expansion plan in the Middle East during the next few months, forming partnerships, joint ventures and channel sales to promote GPN’s three major products, namely the SONaccess, the SONbuddy and the SONmetro.
“This is a great opportunity and I look forward to working closely with the professional team to provide innovative and cost effective integrated wireless solutions. GPN is still a new company; however we have great products, resources and vision to become extremely successful in the wireless technology sector,” commented Dr. Ali.
