e-TQM College, the Dubai based pioneers in e-learning education recently welcomed representatives from the University of Phoenix, USA to Dubai for an immersion tour and important meeting at the College.
While both education providers are renowned for offering online e-learning programmes and degrees to young students and professional adults, the University of Phoenix has specialised in this since the early 70’s. University of Phoenix was recognized in 1989 as the first U.S. University to offer their courses online. As of October 2006 University of Phoenix has an estimated 280,000 students attending via the various methods of going to school.
e-TQM College has achieved similar milestones in its short yet highly successful life as the first ever e-learning provider in the region. The College is constantly referred to as ‘the College of firsts’, being the first of it’s kind to specialise and focus on the aspect of training in Total Quality Management. The meeting signified a sharing of mutual experiences and an opportunity to gain knowledge from each other.
The University of Phoenix visited e-TQM College to understand more about their virtual e-learning platforms and their successful delivery of education in Total Quality Management at various levels. Mr. Bill Pepicello, President of University of Phoenix said "Although e-TQM College is still young in comparison to the University Of Phoenix they are doing everything right – perhaps even more so than others who are more experienced in this field. Their achievements in this short time have been extremely impressive”. The President was accompanied by his colleagues Mr. Peter Martinez who serves as Vice President of International Division of the University of Phoenix, and Daniel P. Litteral who is the Vice President for University Legal Services and General Counsel of University of Phoenix.
Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Vice President, e-TQM College was extremely proud to announce the visit saying that: “The University of Phoenix, since it’s beginning in the 1970’s has made academic innovation, quality and accountability its hallmark. These are admirable ideals which e-TQM College share in their efforts to offer a quality education in Total Quality Management across the region.
