Nakheel, the UAE's leading property developer, has appointed Mohammed Rashed bin Dhabeah as General Manager Lost City and Jebel Ali Village.

Mohammed will have complete responsibility for the Lost City development and Jebel Ali Village, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Launched in September 2004, the Lost City is a residential development inspired by great civilizations dating back millennia: from the Fertile Crescent to the Orient, Mediterranean Africa to the Arabian Peninsula. The new development will be located in a 560 hectare area in Jebel Ali, at the intersection of the Ibn Battuta Interchange Road and Emirates Road, lying adjacent to Nakheel's other signature developments, Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall and Discovery Gardens.

Born in Dubai, Mohammed holds a Batchelor of Science in Architecture and Engineering from UAE University. He has worked at Nakheel for three years, being an architect and project co-ordinator at the Jumeirah Islands development. He has also been a key player in Business Development at Nakheel, focusing on concept development for projects such as Dubai Waterfront, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Jumeirah Village, and other Nakheel projects.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman Nakheel said, "Mohammed Rashed is an excellent appointment as General Manager Lost City and Jebel Ali Village. His strong architectural and engineering background, as well as the key role he has played in the concept development of a variety of Nakheel projects, means that he has all the vital skills and experience necessary for the successful management of The Lost City and Jebel Ali Village."

Mohammed commented, "The role of General Manager Lost City and Jebel Ali Village is another challenging one for me, and I am very proud to be working for Nakheel – contributing to Nakheel's work in building the vision of Dubai. The rate of the city's development has been extraordinary, and The Lost City will be a key part of ensuring that the residential sector keeps pace with this growth, and meets the demands of the market for quality property. The development will also be unique within Dubai: The Lost City will be an attractive residential district inspired by the architecture of ancient civilizations. Such ancient inspiration will be in contrast to the developments state-of–the-art facilities, including a world class 18 hole golf course designed by 'the Great White Shark' himself Greg Norman."

In reference to Jebel Ali Village, Mohammed added that "Jebel Ali Village is a new project which Nakheel will be announcing the details of in the future; of course, as with all Nakheel projects, the development will be driven by a commitment to quality, innovation and attention to detail."

This appointment is part of a number of announcements that will be made over the coming weeks as Nakheel restructures its senior management team in order to enhance customer focus and delivery, and to prepare for the next stage of growth and profitability. Each Nakheel project will now act as an autonomous strategic business unit complete with its own management, budget and team.
