GEMS student wins Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance

Simran Vedvyas, a Grade 5 student from The Millennium School, has won the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance. She is one amongst only four distinguished winners in her category. The award will be presented at a ceremony to be held on April 6, 2009.

This is a milestone for Simran who has won over a hundred certificates, trophies and medals. She won the prestigious Sharjah Educational Award for Outstanding Performance last year; and was a member of the Junior Student Prefects Board for the year 2007-2008 and a Student Council Member for the year 2008-2009 at her school.

“I congratulate Simran who has demonstrated exceptional achievements and success .We are extremely proud of her, as she has proved through her enthusiasm, hard work and determination that she is indeed a worthy winner of this prestigious award,” said Michael Guzder, Principal of The Millennium School.

He added: “Simran is extremely confident, respectful to those around her and sensitive to the needs of her peers.  She has been an excellent pupil throughout her school career, and has been the top ranker in all the grades. We wish Simran the best for a very bright future.”
Her father, Vedvyas, said: “Simran very effectively manages her time, works under strict discipline and recognises the importance of school, studies and extra-curricular activities alike. Simran wants to make her life a meaningful experience and work hard to see more laurels come her way.”
Simran not only excels in academics but also in public speaking, dance, dramatics, swimming, reading, story telling, art and craft, computers, photography and tennis. Her multi-faceted personality finds expression through active participation in community development programmes and charitable events.
