Israeli bulldozers on Sunday demolished scores of houses in the Nissanit and Dugit settlements in the northern Gaza Strip, marking the first large-scale demolitions during the Israeli pullout from the Gaza Strip. Shortly after, demolitions commenced in the settlements of Pe'at Sadeh and Ganei Tal.
Earlier, the Israeli cabinet Sunday formally ratified the evacuation of last seven of 25 Gaza Strip and northern West Bank settlements slated for demolition.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces acted Sunday to evacuate the three Gaza Strip settlements of Atzmona, Slav and Katif. In Slav, The 12 families in the settlement agreed to live without confrontation with Israeli troops.
Israeli forces also entered Katif settlement despite the fact that residents there blocked the entrance gate and set fire in a bid to delay the evacuation.
At the same time, forces completed the evacuation of the three northern Gaza Strip settlements of Dugit, Elei Sinai and Nisanit, where a number of families were still living as of Sunday morning. The evacuation of the enclave of Netzarim is scheduled for Monday.
