ALBAWABA - On Friday, the Ministry of Health warned that fuel shortages will close Gazan hospitals within 48 hours. Israel's embargo has stopped petroleum from entering the besieged region, where the fighting has lasted over a year.
At a news conference in Khan Younis, Dr. Marwan Al-Hamas, Director General of Field Hospitals, warned, “Without immediate action to allow fuel entry, all hospitals in Gaza will halt operations or significantly reduce services within the next two days.”
He urged international bodies to obey the International Criminal Court's ruling on “genocide in Gaza.” He appealed for gasoline, medications, and food deliveries and foreign medical teams to help in northern Gaza.
According to the Ministry, Israeli strikes on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza late Thursday night injured six medical staff, several gravely. The attack damaged the hospital's primary generator and water tanks, leaving it without power, oxygen, or water. Eight intensive care patients and 80 patients are in danger.
The Ministry branded the persistent targeting of healthcare facilities a “criminal act” and urged international agencies to safeguard hospitals and medical staff under international law.
To stop Hamas from regrouping, Israel continues its massive ground offensive in northern Gaza, began on October 6. The Gaza Civil Defense found 12 fatalities and dozens of injured residents in two Israeli airstrike-targeted homes on Friday.
Israeli forces killed five Hamas operatives engaged in the October 7, 2023 incident that started the conflict.
According to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health, around 44,000 individuals, mostly women and children, have died in the war. These data are reliable to the UN.
