In a circulation issued for Eid Al-Fitr, Mayor of Amman Omar Al-Maani stressed on organizing GAM’s workers shifts to cover work hours during Eid.
The circulation called on concerned officials to increase the number of workers including cleaners, compressors and crushers’ drivers in the evening and night shifts to keep work flow and tackle any issues, in addition GAM called on carrying on efforts to maintain the sanitation of plazas, mosques, cemeteries, and public parks.
The circulation noted that Municipality sanitation works will be 50% in the first day of Eid, 75% on the second, and a full 100% the rest of Eid days.
Executive Director of GAM’s Environment Department Eng. Zaidoun Al-Nsour said that the Municipality directed its regions to focus on work shifts as to receive any complaints or observations.
“We requested regions’ to open their offices for any issues regarding environment, sanitation and building inspection, controlling disease vectors. They were also asked to fulfill required tasks and duties,” he said, adding that night shifts aim at keeping the city clean in Eid, like it is on other days.
He also noted that GAM is keen to enhance the city’s urban and environmental quality while seeing to sanitation in streets, squares, intersection, parks and public venues.
Meanwhile, Director of GAM’s Health and Vocational Control Department, Dr. Mervet Mheirat said that GAM will continue its health and vocation inspection during Eid, noting that citizens’ complaints are to be received via GAM’s emergency lines.
On another note, the Central Wholesale Market will be closed for the first two days of Eid, continuing its work on the third.
Director of GAM’s Parks Department Eng. Nibal Qattan said that the Municipality parks and bird parks will be open full-time during Eid, receiving visitors during their morning and evening shifts, whereas GAM’s traffic parks will receive their visitors from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting the first day of Eid.
The Municipality’s traffic parks include models of streets and intersections, provided with traffic signs and lights in addition to electric cars to train kids on dealing with traffic and abiding by rules.
It is worth noting that GAM founded 5 traffic parks; Sarh Al-Shahid Park in Al-Madina Al-Reyyadeya Neighborhood, Tlaa Al-Ali Park, Prince Omar Al-Faisal Park in Marka, Al-Jwaideh Park in addition to the one in Al-Hussein Park.
The traffic parks receive children daily from 9 a.m. till 8 p.m.
