The Manager of Amman City, Engineer Ammar Gharaibeh, recently inaugurated in Al Jiza and Uhud districts “Manja Center and Library” and “Uhud Center,” for IT and local community service, as part as of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) national holidays celebrations.
Eng. Gharaibeh affirmed GAM’s dedication to implementing service and developmental projects throughout the Capital’s districts, and establishing public libraries and IT centers, thereby spreading IT culture and boosting creative capabilities and energies.
According to the Head of the Training Center at GAM, Eng. Fadwa Abu Gheida’, each IT center includes 2 halls: an internet hall that allows school and university students to do research and find information, and a hall for training courses for all age groups and strata of the local community.
Director of Public Libraries, Hatem Al Hamlan, explained that Manja library contains 4000 books on various topics, suitable for all age groups. He indicated that, to encourage reading and to serve the regions’ school children and university students, the inaugurated libraries will be supplied with GAM’s latest publications, among other things.
The inaugural event was attended by the Mayor’s Advisor for Districts Affairs, Mahmoud Al Armouti, the Local Committee heads of Al Jiza and Uhud, and the heads of the districts.
It is worth noting that there are 69 GAM IT centers and 70 libraries spread throughout all GAM districts.
As part of its national holiday celebrations and coinciding with its centennial festivities, GAM has prepared an integrated program that includes the inaugurations of developmental, service, and traffic projects, as well as laying foundation stones of other projects.
