On Friday December 1st, Seventy Six environment supporting individuals competed all day through the rough weather conditions and the very challenging MTC-Vodafone Treasure Hunt games to support the cause of a 'Greener and Cleaner Bahrain'.
The event which was held under the patronage of H.H. Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Head of the Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife, aimed to highlight environmental issues in our Kingdom, with a specific focus on recycling and a greener Bahrain.
Games and activities varied from a beach clean-up in Tubli, where 600 garbage bags were collected, tree planting in The Water Garden - Manama, learning to ride a donkey cart, recyclable items that had to be collected for points, riddles and brain-teasers, and many other fun challenges that consumed the majority of their day, starting early in the morning up till around 5:30 in the evening.
"We take pride in serving our community and contributing to make Bahrain a cleaner and greener place" said Zahraa Taher, Managing Director of T&M Eventscom. "Last year we chose to clean the Sanad beach, this year when we visited that same beach along with representatives of the Central Governorate, they informed us that the Governorate had strictly maintained the beach as clean as possible as a token of appreciation for the great job done last year in cleaning the Sanad beach, this year the teams collected 600 bags (70 gallons each) at the Tubli Beach" Taher Added.
The teams and over 200 people representing corporations, non-governmental organisations (NGO’s), students, and other individuals, took part in the fourth annual MTC-Vodafone Treasure Hunt, which was created by T&M EVENTSCOM with the support of the Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife.
The final destination point for the teams, marshals, and members of the public was at the Marina Club, where the prizes were announced, followed by dinner, and a DJ party to celebrate a day in support of the environment of Bahrain.
The first prize of US $1,000 went to Al-Shamil Bank's team, who won with a total score of 4085 points, the second prize of four mobile phones from MTC-Vodafone went to the MTC-Vodaphone team with 3910 points earned throughout the day, the third prize of four dinner vouchers from Gulf Hotel went to the team from The Bahrain Youth Forum with a total of 3835 points, and finally in fourth place came a team of independent participants entering registered as "Basic Four" with 3660 points.
Other raffles were won by different team members and volunteer marshals. Raffle gifts were sponsored by MTC-Vodafone, Gulf Hotel, Mercure Hotel, Midaway, and the Raddisson Sas Hotel.
