ALBAWABA - Former Mossad deputy head and current Israeli Knesset member Ram Ben-Barak recently voiced his profound concerns about the continuing war in Gaza and its effects on Israel's economy in an interview.

Ben-Barak, a former senior official in Israeli intelligence and international policy, said that Israel is suffering heavy casualties from the current military campaign in Gaza, which he claimed lacked defined goals. He stressed the mounting economic problems facing the nation and the necessity for a reevaluation of strategic objectives.

Ben-Barak addressed the fallout from the battle, highlighting the toll it has had on Israel's standing abroad and its ties to important friends, most notably the US. He also expressed alarm about how the Israeli economy was failing, blaming it to the protracted battle in Gaza.

Ben-Barak's comments coincide with the Israeli army's resumption of military operations in many areas of Gaza, during which they have run into intense opposition from militant Palestinians. Israeli troops are losing their lives on a regular basis as a consequence of the continuous conflict, and military hardware is being destroyed.

Ben-Barak, a current member of the Israeli Knesset and a former high-ranking intelligence officer, has a lot of credibility. His remarks reflect rising disquiet in Israeli political and security circles over the direction of the war and its wider repercussions for the nation.
