Flying high on National Day spirit at Abu Dhabi Airport

Gifts and entertainment to greet passengers as airport celebrates UAE’s 37 year anniversary

Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) will be offering a lively experience for travellers passing through Abu Dhabi International and Al Ain airports from 2-3 December, by inviting them to join in the celebratory spirit that marks the UAE’s 37th National Day.

Staff across both airports will join the rest of the UAE in preparing for the celebrations and will be on hand to help drum up a party spirit in all the airport terminals where traditional Arabic music, decorations, flags and banners will be on display.

Passengers will receive gifts in the form of UAE flag-scarves, sweets and chocolates,  and traditional arts and crafts will also be on display. There will also be opportunities for the ladies to have henna by a local artist.

Sheikha Al Maskari, Vice President Corporate Affairs at ADAC said:

“National Day is one of the biggest celebratory events of the year and marks an important date on the UAE calendar.  As the airport is the gateway for visitors to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, we want to mark their arrival or departure with a unique experience to coincide with this special time of year for Emiratis.

“Undoubtedly, this year’s National Day will be an occasion for the residents of Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE community to reflect and take pride in the many developments and achievements reached within their country over the last 37 years.

“Our staff across all our airports act as ambassadors for the country as a whole, in particular for our transit passengers, and we are proud and privileged to play our role in helping to mark and celebrate this special occasion.”

She thanked the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development for their significant role in promoting the National Day activities at Abu Dhabi airport. She also commended their commitment to enhance those activities through the distribution of National Day gift items to airport passengers.

Formally known as the Trucial States, the seven emirate confederation situated on the eastern horn of the Arabian Peninsula gained independence from the UK in 1971, and formed a federal union of six emirates that became the UAE.  Ras Al Khaimah joined later in 1972 to make it seven emirates.
