Five Yemeni soldiers killed in anti-Al-Qaeda operation in Abyan

ALBAWABA- In the midst of a sustained security crackdown targeting Al-Qaeda elements in the prominent stronghold of Wadi Al-Rafadh, connected to Wadi Awran in the Mudiyah directorate of Abyan province, five soldiers from the Abyan security forces have lost their lives today.

 A military source disclosed that the confrontations, which extended for hours, involved medium and light weapons as Abyan security forces clashed with Al-Qaeda members in the eastern region of Mudiyah.

The intense clashes yielded success for the Abyan security forces, leading to the wresting of control over several locations within the rugged Wadi Al-Rafadh, where the terrorist organization had sought refuge.

While the source did not confirm casualties among Al-Qaeda members, it noted the presence of bloodstains and evidence of fighting at various locations held by the organization. 

Some elements managed to evade capture, abandoning weapons and ammunition in their escape. The military source indicated that the operation is slated to persist until complete control is established over the strategic valley.
