The five people, detained on suspicion of planning an attack against Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, were freed on Monday. According to the Anatolian Agency, the suspects were freed after questioning by a Turkish prosecutor at an anti-terrorism police unit.
Police, however, admitted one female detainee, who is believed to have psychological problems, to a local mental health hospital, the agency said. The five were arrested as part of security measures ahead of Erdogan's campaign rally visit to the southern province of Adana on Sunday.
Adana Governor Ilhan Atis said later on Sunday he would not say whether the arrests were connected to a possible attack on Erdogan.
