Jordan's King Abdullah left Amman on Tuesday headed to
Tehran for a two-day official visit to Iran, during which he is due to hold talks with Iranian president Mohammad Khatimi and Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khammenai.
The King's visit marks the first by a Jordanian monarch to Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution.
During the King's visit to Iran, he is expected to discuss means of strengthening bilateral relations in various fields between both countries, especially in the economic and cultural realms, according to the official Petra news agency.
In addition, the talks will focus on boosting trade exchange and motivating the role of the private sector in setting up joint projects.
The current regional situation, especially in Iraq and the Palestinian territories will also be discussed.
The King is accompanied by Prime Minister Ali Abul Ragheb and other top Jordanian officials. (Albawaba.com)
