Explosions rock Shiraz; massive fire engulfs LPG plant in Iran

ALBAWABA - A large fire broke out Saturday evening at a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder filling workshop in Shiraz, southern Iran, The Independent Persian reported.

According to local media, the fire was accompanied by the explosion of several cylinders. 

Furthermore, several people sustained injuries of varying severity due to the fire in the gas bottling plant.

The Shiraz Fire Department said that firefighting and ambulance members were dispatched to the location and rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the report. 

Seven fire stations and eleven heavy and medium fire engines were involved in controlling the blaze from three different directions.

Hadi Eidi Pour, head of the Shiraz Fire Department, said that the incident happened at 6:01 p.m. 

He also noted that the cause of the fire is still under investigation by fire department experts to determine the exact circumstances.
