The Etisalat ICT forum which was held at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Dubai saw a wide attendance with attendees gaining valuable insights in terms of emerging trends in ICT. Peter Hall from Ovum, the global analyst firm spoke about the changing role of telcos with firms now expanding their footprint to deliver services like infrastructure outsourcing and application outsourcing. He also talked about the growth of IP and its impact in terms of convergence with benefits like lower TCO , support for new applications and ability to maintain high performance of business critical applications by prioritising use of bandwidth.
From an Enterprise Mobility Perspective, the growing demand on an executive's time and the increasing demand for tools and solutions to do business anytime, anywhere and on any device, has seen a rapid growth in mobility solutions. Today, mobility solutions have an increasingly bigger role to play whether it is in terms of impacting the business process cycle, communicating with customers or increasing the productivity of customers themselves through access to solutions. At the forum, Etisalat gave the audience an insight into its comprehensive mobility strategy comprising of Mobile Voice, Value SMS and MMS/SMS broadcast, Mobile Data, Blackberry and Mobile PBX solutions.
