Etihad Crystal Cargo, a division of Etihad Airways is pleased to announce that it has introduced two weekly freighter flights from Abu Dhabi to Chennai, India. Chennai is Crystal Cargo’s second freighter destination in India and the division’s fifth global all-cargo destination.  The airline’s first freighter flight to India was launched to Mumbai in February 2005.

Commenting on Etihad’s Crystal Cargo services to India, Mr. Robert W. Strodel, Head of Cargo & Mail said, “The Indian Subcontinent is a very dynamic market for cargo services.  Etihad’s Abu Dhabi – Mumbai route has been a tremendous success, which we are extending into other booming cities in India. The Mumbai route has shown very high payloads and we are extremely confident that the new freighter to Chennai will further enhance our Indian operations.”

Currently Etihad Crystal Cargo provides scheduled services to Frankfurt, Milan, Amman, Mumbai and Chennai. In addition, Crystal Cargo has operated more than 50 charter flights worldwide since March 2005.

Etihad Crystal Cargo now operates two Airbus freighters, the A300 – 600F and A310-300F.  Plans are underway to expand its fleet with the addition of the A300-600F in August 2005.  By the end of 2006, the airline expects to add an additional four regional freighter aircraft, bringing the total fleet to six freighters.

Crystal Cargo has recently expanded its cargo services to Europe and currently serves Frankfurt three times per week and Milan two times per week.

Notes to the editors:
Etihad Airways, although a new arrival, now flies to 17 destinations in the Middle East, Europe and Asia.  The growing network now serves Amman, Bahrain, Bangkok, Beirut, Cairo, Colombo, Damascus, Dammam, Frankfurt, Geneva, Karachi, London (Heathrow), London (Gatwick), Mumbai, Munich, New Delhi and Riyadh.
The cargo division of Etihad Airways, Etihad Crystal Cargo, offers an expanding network of cargo destinations on scheduled and charter flights. Etihad Crystal Cargo's services are based on three fundamental promises - Ultimate Information Transparency, 21st Century Technology and Total Customer Focus. In addition to the 17 passenger destinations Etihad Crystal Cargo offers all-cargo-services to Frankfurt, Amman, Mumbai and Milan as well as charter services with its regional freighter fleet.
In addition to Etihad’s rapidly expanding international routes, the airline has also created Etihad Holidays in record time.  Launched in May 2004, Etihad Holidays offers an array of over 170 hotels in more than 35 exciting holiday destinations in 14 countries – from vibrant bustling cities and picturesque, romantic beach resorts to cultural breaks and world renowned hotels.
Etihad’s focus is on doing things differently – reinventing the way an airline works, with the emphasis very much on creating new standards in hospitality.  Etihad refers to passengers as ‘guests’ and has three ‘guest zones’ – Diamond, Pearl and Coral - rather than classes. Each zone provides a premium service, with quality and undivided attention emphasized.
