ENOC management staff ‘Pumps Up the Volume’ at ENOC/EPPCO forecourts

• Initiative aimed  at strengthening solidarity between retail team and corporate employees

A record number of 97 staff members from ENOC corporate offices pumped fuel, cleaned windshields, served at the Convenience Stores and washed vehicles as part of the annual “Pump up the Volume” team building initiative.

Demonstrating a mutual respect for the frontline ENOC retail team, 'Pump up the Volume' involved male and female head office staff- from coordinators to senior management- working as forecourt, Convenience Store and car wash attendants in selected ENOC/ EPPCO service stations for half a day.

The objective of the event, held last week, was to allow the head office staff to experience first-hand the various duties being carried out by the frontline staff and understand their roles and responsibilities. The initiative also aimed to further strengthen solidarity and unity between the retail team and corporate employees.

'Pump up the Volume' was initiated in 1999. The ladies initially worked as convenience store attendants, while the men worked as customer service agents at the forecourt doing different tasks including pumping fuel, mopping, dusting, cleaning windscreens and disposing garbage. Over the years, however, more and more female participants opted to do forecourt duties as well.  Working in the car wash facility was also added as an option for all.

”This year’s activity boasted the largest number of ENOC's corporate office volunteers. Their active participation truly encouraged the rapport between the head office, convenience store and forecourt teams as well as united the group’s commitment to quality customer service, care and speed. With this initiative our 'One team with One Mission' concept becomes a reality through direct action,' said Burhan Al Hashemi, Chief Operating Officer – Retail Business Unit.

Nenita Bigcas, Marketing Admin Assistant at Emirates Gas, was one of the volunteers. She commented: “I’m proud to take part in this initiative, which is a great gesture as it gives staff at the corporate offices the opportunity to share the roles of frontline retail staff. This was a great learning experience for me as it provided an insight on the various responsibilities of our frontline staff and also gave me the chance to get to know other staff members from various departments within the group.”
