Predictions that the number of smart mobile phones in the Middle East will reach almost 18 million by 2010 have excited Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS) who are confident that BlackBerry® devices will feature prominently in that growth.
The prediction has come from industry researchers Gartner who were reported recently as saying consumer demand for smart phone technology throughout the Middle East is growing at over 50% annually after standing at 6.3 million mobile devices last year.
“As the original pioneer of this technology in the region, we fully expect to grow BlackBerry’s market share by keeping one step ahead of the competition with the development of localised solutions. This is something that gives BlackBerry an unmatched edge.” says EMS CEO Babar Khan. While enterprise solutions (designed for corporates and businesses) had been the initial focus, EMS was also putting a lot of effort into anticipating and meeting the needs of the consumer market.
“This is particularly important now when BlackBerry has become widely available across the region as a consumer product and with the successful introduction of the Blackberry Pearl in the market."
Emitac Mobile Solutions is the region’s strategic channel partner for BlackBerry, the market-leading communications device which was developed by Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM).
