Egyptian authorities have imposed fresh restrictions on people traveling to nine countries.

In a Wednesday statement, the Interior Ministry said Egyptians traveling to Yemen, Jordan, Malaysia, South Korea, Guinea, Israel, Indonesia, Thailand and South Africa must get prior approval from security agencies.

The ministry said the move was aimed at “preventing wanted people from escaping” the country.

Last year, Egyptian authorities made it necessary for people traveling to Turkey, Qatar, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Libya and Sudan to obtain prior approval from security agencies.
