Egypt’s Sound Company has signed a contract with Syrian director Mohammad Firdos Al Atassi to direct a series entitled Ma’a Wa Dima’a (Blood and Water).
According to Al Ittihad newspaper, the new project depicts the love story of a Syrian soldier and an Egyptian girl, the sister of a fellow soldier.
The two end up getting married and live happily until the day of the Egyptian/Israeli battle in 1973.
It is then that the series takes on a number of political themes including the problems between Egypt and Syria; emphasizing the lack of unity between the two countries and the events leading to this separation.
As soon as the war begins, the young soldier joins the ranks of his Syrian troops, who fought alongside the Egyptian army. However, this results in his death.
The widowed wife decides not to go back to Egypt and insists on staying in Syria, despite her family and in-laws attempts to send her back to Egypt.
Meanwhile, various actors have already been nominated for the starring roles. From Egypt, the candidates were Mamdouh Abdul Alim, Jamal Abdul Nasser, Mona Zaka and Madiha Hamdi. From Syria, the candidates were Jamal Sleiman and Norman As’ad. – Albawaba.com.
