Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak and Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika agreed to hold the Egyptian-Algerian joint committee at the presidential level. According to press reports, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit said that he discussed with his Algerian peer Abdelaziz Belkhadem in Cairo a number of important regional issues, including Arab League reforms.
bul-Gheit and Belkhadem co-chaired the fifth session of the Egyptian-Algerian committee meetings in Cairo.
The Algerian top diplomat said that his country's proposal regarding the post of the Arab League Secretary General only comes as part of rehabilitating the pan-Arab organization.
