Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa left Saudi Arabia on Tuesday after discussing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with Saudi officials, following a day of talks in Syria, said reports.
Upon arrival in Cairo, the foreign minister told reporters that he was carrying messages from King Fahd and Syrian President Bashar Assad to President Hosni Mubarak, reported the official Kuwait news agency (KUNA).
Moussa gave no details about the messages but told reporters that his talks with Saudi and Syrian leaders centered on means to salvage the Middle East peace process, and on the need for Arab coordination in the current stage, the agency cited him as saying.
The Egyptian minister briefed the Saudi leadership "on the results of Egypt's contacts with the parties concerned in the region's conflict," said AFP, quoting an official.
In Damascus, Moussa met the Syrian president to discuss the situation in the region after seven months of Israeli-Palestinian violence.
The foreign minister has said his consultations in Syria and Saudi Arabia would be focused on organizing a follow-up meeting of the Arab League committee set up in support of the Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation.
The committee groups Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia and the Palestinian Authority, said AFP – Albawaba.com
