e-Commerce Engineer appointed at Amadeus Middle East hub
Shibu George brings extensive e-travel industry experience to the new position
Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, today announced the appointment of Shibu George as e-Commerce Engineer for Amadeus’ newly opened Middle East Regional Hub, based in Dubai.
In his new role, Shibu George will drive and support the e-commerce needs of travel agencies, travel management companies and corporate travel in Middle East and Africa where Amadeus’ portfolio of e-commerce solutions has enabled the online success of various customer segments with easy to deploy solutions that address the specific needs of the region.
George has more than ten years of travel industry work experience and a good knowledge of the local market. He moves into his new role from the position of Online Sales Engineer, a post he held at Amadeus since July 2006. Here, he was responsible for e-Commerce training, implementation of B2B and B2C solutions, online promotion support, search engine optimization, and creating technical documentation, sales and support tools.
Previously, he was the Online Solution Developer at Salem Travel Agency, part of Al Saman Group of Companies, representing 14 airlines in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The online portal of Salem Travel Agency is one of the first travel agency portals in the region that offered online reservation (powered by Amadeus).
Commenting on the appointment, Fernando Cuesta, Executive Director at Amadeus for Middle East & Africa, said, “Shibu George has played a key role in building Amadeus’ e-commerce presence in the Gulf. He has been an asset to our operations and we feel he is a perfect fit for the new role. We are confident that he will continue to demonstrate his leadership skills and also expand the existing levels of customer service and solutions for the e-travel sector.”
George has an engineering degree in electronics and communications from Mangalore University, India.
