Dulsco, one of the leading service providers of manpower outsourcing in the UAE, has announced that hundreds of its employees recently participated in the ‘Clean-Up the World’ campaign organised by Dubai Municipality.
More than 100 Dulsco volunteers participated in cleaning up the Hamriya Port area, following which approximately 2,000 metric tonnes of waste, including scrap, oil and grease drums, and general waste were collected and transported for safe disposal at Dubai Municipality landfills. In addition, around 300 Dulsco employees volunteered in the ‘Clean Up’ drive in the Al Quoz Industrial Area and Al Barsha, which resulted in the collection of 21 metric tonnes of general waste.
Dulsco’s participation in the campaign was appreciated by Dubai Municipality and DP World, who presented Dulsco with a Certificate of Appreciation.
Mohammed Al Mas Hareb, Manager – General Cargo, Jebel Ali, DP World, said, “I would like to thank Dubai Municipality for coordinating with Dulsco for this campaign and collecting different kinds of waste that have been lying around Hamriya Port. Dulsco employees have taken great efforts in clearing the area thoroughly, thereby giving us more space for storing cargo. We look forward to Dulsco’s continuous support in this regard in coordination with Dubai Municipality.”
Eng. Hassan Mohammed Makki, Director of the Waste Management Department, Dubai Municipality, said, “We appreciate Dulsco’s contribution to this initiative, which demonstrates the company’s sense of responsibility towards the community. This will surely encourage other private sector companies to take part in similar initiatives and utilise their resources to protect the environment. I think such activities will help us at Dubai Municipality to do our job better and project Dubai as a place of sustainable development.”
“Corporate Social Responsibility is so much of our part of doing business that we look for opportunities to work towards it. At this time, we felt that we could release some of our workers to help Dubai Municipality in the clean-up initiatives and we proactively went to the Authorities to make this happen! We believe that we owe responsibility to the environment we live, breathe and draw our resources from. As a local company this is our contribution to Dubai and its campaign for a greener world! It is our way of integrating economic, social, and environmental imperatives with our business activities. Our involvement in this drive has been going on for years and we have committed to provide 50-100 volunteers every Saturday to Dubai Municipality throughout 2009 for clean-up activities across the emirate,” said Balakumar, Director of Dulsco HR Solutions.
Further, 200 Dulsco employees volunteered in cleaning up areas of the Green Community and Dubai Investment Park as part of the ‘Clean-Up UAE’ campaign organised by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) in December. During this campaign collected 125 tones of waste from wadis, deserts, valleys and beaches.
Dulsco also announced that more than 400 of its employees will volunteer in the clean up drive in Sharjah (Al Sajjah Industrial Area, labour accommodations and Al Fallah areas) as part of the Clean Up campaign organised by Sharjah Municipality in January 2009.
