Demonstrating the company's culture of compassion toward others, especially those less privileged in society, Dubai Aluminium Company Limited ("DUBAL") recently hosted two outreach campaigns that embodied the true spirit of caring and sharing. The initiatives, both of which engaged employees in giving to the community, were as follows:

"Bring a Smile", which involved presenting a gift bag filled with everyday lifestyle items to 991 labourers who work for contractors on the company's Jebel Ali site. Employees donated a large proportion of the items distributed, with DUBAL covering the shortfall to reach the total target. The response to the initiative was resoundingly positive. In addition to contributing items, a large group of employees assisted voluntarily in the final packing and counting of the bags; as well as the distribution of the gift bags to the intended recipients. Importantly, the gift bags brought smiles to the labourers' faces — confirming that the objective of bringing cheer to those who live away from their families was achieved.A drive to collect items for the needy — including non-perishable food items, cleaning and personal hygiene products, clothing and household soft furnishings — which were presented to Red Crescent for onward distribution in the community. Again, the initiative was well supported: a total of 75 boxes were filled with items donated by employees and their families. Mohammed Al Zarouni (Manager: UAE Red Crescent, Dubai Branch) received the donations during a small ceremony at DUBAL, attended by Mohammed A Yahya (Manager: Corporate Relations & International Affairs) and Khalid Fikree (Acting Manager: Facility Services)

Commenting that initiatives such as these embody the company's commitment to giving back to society, Mohammed A Yahya says, "DUBAL cares about the community and provides corporate support for projects that improve the quality of life for underprivileged or disempowered members of the community. We also encourage our employees to become engaged in the community by investing time, skills or other resources at a personal level. These two campaigns achieved all these objectives while simultaneously making a meaningful difference in society."
