Company engages employees by conducting First Aid course, visiting camp
The month-long Rashid Summer Camp 2009, organised annually by Emirates Hobbies Association, received a value-adding boost from Dubai Aluminium Company Limited (“DUBAL”) – the world’s largest primary aluminium smelter with a captive power station and the industrial flagship of the UAE. Not only did DUBAL provide financial sponsorship for the third consecutive year, but the company also presented a First Aid course (basic life support skills) to 80 of the students who attended the camp.
The First Aid course was presented in four workshops, each attended by approximately 20 students, with the agenda comprising a film, a theory lesson and practical demonstrations. Each student received a booklet on First Aid, a pocket-sized reminder of the essential skills, and a certificate of attendance. Volunteers from DUBAL Medical Centre conducted the training, while volunteers from DUBAL’s Head Office helped co-ordinate the outreach and provided assistance during the weekly workshops.
In addition, a member of DUBAL’s Corporate Relations & International Affairs Department visited Rashid Summer Camp 2009 as part of the organiser’s endeavours to involve sponsors to a greater extent in the initiative. Commented Khalid E Buhumaid (Vice President: Corporate Relations & International Affairs and official spokesperson of DUBAL), “DUBAL’s annual sponsorship of the Rashid Summer Camp has been taken to another level this year. This demonstrates our corporate commitment to invest in the community; and reflects ongoing efforts to engage our employees in DUBAL’s outreach activities, thereby giving the opportunities to invest their time and energy in others.”
