Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV), the region's premier destination for human resources management and a member of TECOM Investments' Education Cluster, today announced it organised the 11th TECOM SME Builder exploring strategies for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to help streamline their finances.
Attended by representatives from the SME sector, the session held on 3 June at the Dubai Knowledge Village Conference Centre, featured a presentation on 'Get your Finances in Shape: Trends, Risks and Strategies for SME' by Binod Shankar, Managing Director of Genesis Review.
Shankar said: "These are undoubtedly tough times. Small and medium enterprises have been more affected by the financial crisis than the larger, well established entities. Financial management has never been more important; almost everything has a financial impact. However, key corporate decisions are often made by individuals who are often unaware of the financial implications of these decisions that sometimes destroy the core value of a company. In our presentation, we have focused on how to create and maintain value by looking at the latest ground realities, assessing the related risks and thinking of solutions."
An initiative of DKV's Partner Development Management (PDM) department, the TECOM SME Builder provides an ideal environment for owners of small and medium enterprises to upgrade their business management skills and establish greater synergy within their respective entrepreneurial segments.
The event was organised with the expert involvement of TECOM Investments' business partners such as ABAMI Experiential Learning, Potential, Maxsales, Al Tamimi & Company, Leginsky Consulting Counsel, Bayt.com, Zawya, Flagship Consultancy, Genesis Review, Disruptive Play, MEPRA, Business in Motion, Potential, Stanton Chase International and The Core Group.
Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director of Education Cluster – TECOM Investments, said: "The session proved valuable to representatives of small and medium businesses. This is part of our ongoing endeavour to organise and facilitate platforms for the community to engage and exchange best practices. This initiative is an effort in this direction that demonstrates the firm commitment of Dubai Knowledge Village to develop human capital in the UAE and the region."
Launched in January 2007, SME Builder aims to support business partners through fostering their interaction with the TECOM community as well as other industries, maximizing their exposure and visibility, and helping them reach their target market via building appropriate marketing channels.
DKV has created several platforms to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices across the areas of education, project management, leadership, work-life balance, investment, sales, IT, design, HR and tourism among others. It also conducts industry specific events focusing on sectors such as oil and gas, banking and finance, as well as investments.
