Dubai- Dubai Customs receives the eService Provider Organization Award among the governmental departments, organizations and authorities, as well as the business sector in the Middle East.
The Award was received during the 14th Middle East eGovernment and eServices Excellence Award held lately in Burj Al Arab Hotel, H.E. Doctor Rashid Ahmad bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water and H.E. Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labor in addition to a lot of officials and executive directors from the region's countries attended the ceremony.
The annually organized Award by the Middle East Award of Excellence Institute aims to enhance services and increase the rates of using electronic practices in the region, so as to shed a light on the most important and distinguished creative IT applications adopted by governmental departments that are concerned with providing clients with the best electronic services.
The Award includes 12 categories and the winners are chosen by a jury of Danish, Swedish and American experts. The institute studies the various websites and projects that belong to participating organization and evaluates whether they match the criteria and practices or not.
H.E. Minister of Environment and Water and H.E. Minister of Labor have delivered the awards to the representatives of the winning departments. Mr. Younis Mohammed Othman, Senior Manager of the IT Management as well as Mr. Juma Al Zaffin, IT Support and Integration Manager have received Dubai Customs Award.
Mr. Juma Al Ghaith, Executive Director of Customs Development at Dubai Customs said that the department is constantly looking forward to providing the clients and strategic alliances with the best services, adding that Dubai Customs was one of the leading departments that adopted eServices and that now all its services are 100% electronic. .
Mr. Al Ghaith added:" The Department is constantly using these eServices that are now more than 80, within the program of development and modernization that has been adopted four years ago, as it seeks the most modern technologies and the most advanced international customs practices implemented to meet the Department's strategic objectives."
Mirsal2 which includes an electronic customs clearance system is one of the very beneficial achievements facilitating procedures for clients and enabling them to handle their business from their offices without the need to come in person to the Department. Therefore, Mirsal2 saves them and their employees' time and effort as it reduces estimated time required to handle transactions to 5 minutes for each one.
In addition to Dubai Customs, the Award winning list included eGovernment Best ICT Initiatives Award for UAE Ministry of Labor, the Chamber of Commerce in Riyadh received the Public Information Portal Award, eBusiness 'One Stop Shop' Portal Award for the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi and the Kuwait Public Awqaf Foundation that received the best Information and Knowledge Portal Award.
Other categories did not include any winning candidates as the submitted projects did not meet the specifications and criteria required by the Middle East Excellence Award Institute.
