To add to the glitz and glamour of the Dubai Shopping Festival, Mashreq and DSF have teamed up to bring the best in aviation adventure sports for the second year in a row by launching the Mashreq Sky Adventure 2009. Mashreq Sky Adventures is an aerial spectacular event that will run from 2nd February 2009 to 15th February 2009 in the Marmoom Reserve Area.

The aerial event will showcase the talent of five pilots from Hungary, who are ex military jet and helicopter pilots. The pilots combined together have flight experience of over 18,600 hours.

Aerial adventure lovers this year will get chance yet again to experience the thrill of sky adventures by flying in one of the five Micro-Light from a special air field in Al Marmoom Reserve Area near Dubai Sports City. The flying experience will provide an exhilarating view of the reserve where the visitor can explore the desert flora and fauna. Visitors can fly with Mashreq Sky adventures for a fee of AED 400 for a flight time of 20 minutes.

Saad Hakim, Events & Public Relations Manager of Mashreq said: “Mashreq has been a proud sponsor of the DSF for 14 consecutive years and each year we have tried to raise the bar. We want to play a significant role in one of the most successful events in the Middle East and bring something innovative and interesting year on year. DSF 2008 marked the start of Mashreq Sky Adventures; this year we are giving the visitors a chance to explore the wonders of the Arabian desert and a chance to experience “night flights.”

The five Micro Lights will take off and land with passengers from a specially made air field from 10 am in the morning till 10 pm in the evening.

“Last year DSF and Mashreq jointly introduced the Sky Adventures– an attraction that was a huge success with the visitors. This year, we wanted to give Dubai residents and visitors a chance to enjoy another thrilling aviation adventure with more choices,” commented Yousif Mubarak, Chief Operations Officer at DSF Office.

“We wish to thank Mashreq for playing an integral role in the success of the Dubai Shopping Festival, they are a key sponsor and we are proud to be associated with them,” he said.

Leszlo Toth, Pilot Leader and Managing Director of ‘Micro Aviation Club’ said: “We worked this season of Mashreq Sky Adventures to provide additional thrill and excitement with the night flights being a totally new experience to aviation adventure lovers.”

“DSF and Mashreq jointly managed the Sky Adventures last year with complete success. The total flights with passengers in 2008 reached a total count of 1367, with a total flight time of 458 hours and covering a distance of over 33,000 Kilometers. We expect the ‘Mashreq Sky Adventures’ to be a bigger success in 2009,” concluded Hakim.
