DSF Delivers in Promoting Retail and Tourism in Dubai
Hotel occupancy and retail expenditure on the rise during DSF 2009
The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) office launched the 14th edition of the longest-running and most successful shopping festival in the world on 15 January 2009. DSF 2009 is running for 32 consecutive days till 15 February, in support of Destination Dubai’s tourism and retail sectors. DSF 2009 is successfully providing this valuable retail and tourism support with hotel occupancy and retail expenditure showing increases of 20% and 15% respectively since DSF 2009 began, compared to the relatively slow weeks prior to the successful event.
With more than 150 cultural and entertainment events, the DSF Office has attracted inbound tourists from the UAE and GCC Community by creating awareness around the large-scale shopping, winning and entertainment opportunities available during DSF, including promotions with discounts up to 80%.
“It is very rare to see such a large number of international brands available in one place. From clothing to electronics and jewellery, shopping in Dubai provides a very rich experience that is not readily available in other cities. Especially with the high availability of Shopping Malls and services that are of an international standard,” sail Laila Suhail, CEO of the DSF Office.
Shopping is to be the main attraction for DSF visitors in 2009 as the DSF Office has closely collaborated with the retail sector to provide unique and unprecedented promotions and discounts.
