DSF 2009 brings the goodness of honey through the Honey Festival at Al Seef Street
Visitors to Al Seef street will have a taste of some of the best honey produced in the region and in the Indian Subcontinent when the Honey Festival begins on Jan 28 as part of DSF 2009. The exciting display and sale event will go on till Feb 13 between 5pm and 10pm.
Around 15 local vendors will display different kinds of honey products from Yemen, Lebanon, Pakistan, Iran and other regions. Visitors can taste from a variety of honey samples before buying and go through a number of information pamphlets on the benefits of honey including its antibacterial properties.
Honey products displayed at the venue will not be restricted to the edible category alone. Cosmetics made from honey mixtures and medicinal honey will also be on sale.
For at least 2700 years, honey has been used by humans to treat a variety of ailments through topical application, but only recently have the antiseptic and antibacterial properties of honey been chemically explained.
