This year, dental professionals competed in 7 different categories and the Aesthetic Dentistry MENA Awards received 142 cases as entries from 14 countries from the Middle East and Africa region. A sound documentation of Dr. Edgard's case where he used the latest technology in orthodontics (mini-implants and CAD-CAM technology) to treat a very complex case in a span of 18 months, that would have otherwise needed surgery to correct. Commenting on being awarded for the second consecutive year, Dr. Irany said, "I am extremely grateful for this recognition and feel humbled by the fact that my work has been acknowledged by the jury panel which consists of professional academicians from different parts of the world."
Dr. Irany's award winning case involved correcting a gummy smile and crowded teeth in a patient who avoided smiling because her teeth were crooked and protruded out of her mouth. Four temporary mini-implants were used to correct the problem therefore avoiding jaw surgery and giving the patient the smile she always dreamed of having. Mini implants are proving to be the most significant advancement in orthodontics and have changed the patient's life.
Dr Irany has been a visiting consultant in the UAE since 2006. After the Israel war that was carried against Lebanon, he felt he should expand his practice to a more stable country while keeping his own practice in down town Beirut running and growing. Owing to his excellent results, he managed after only 4 years of practice in Dubai to build a reputation as one of the leading orthodontists in the region.
On being asked about the level of dental healthcare in the UAE, Dr Irany expressed his confidence in the future of Dubai as one of the leading destinations for dental tourism in the region, mostly because of its cosmopolitan aspect. Orthodontists practicing in Dubai get to treat many types of patients from different origins and ethnicities, that is what makes being an orthodontist in Dubai so interesting and rewarding on the professional level.
Dr. Irany also emphasized on the necessity of proper dental care among children. Especially in this region and the prevalent lifestyle, it is essential to take children to pediatric dentists who specialize in treating children. Proper dental hygiene from a young age, prevents future problems, and also helps remove the fear from the children's mind.
Dr. Irany has been a consultant with Al Zahra for 4 years, and has treated a great number of cases with precision and success. He hopes to continue serving his patients with complete care and attention. For Dr. Irany, dentistry is closer to art; he shares the same passion that an artist would have towards his sculptures and paintings.
