Diyar Al Muharraq Showcased at Cityscape Abu Dhabi 2009
CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq Aaref Hejres: our demand-driven development is on track despite the global crisis

Diyar Al Muharraq, one of the largest mixed-use in the Kingdom of Bahrain, showcased the progress of the unique BHD1.2 billion (US$3.2 billion) development at Cityscape Abu Dhabi, one of the region’s most high profile property events. The exhibition team, which took place from 19th-22nd April at Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre, was headed by Mr. Aaref Hejres, CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq.

With around 30,000 properties housing over 120,000 people planned on when finished, Diyar Al Muharraq’s construction is moving at a brisk pace with reclamation of phase 1 nearing 97% completion. Diyar’s participation at Cityscape Abu Dhabi offered potential investors, developers and buyers at the exhibition a chance to explore the many facets that make this development unique, and enabled the developers to share their vision and progress with international and regional investors, innovative developers and other key stakeholders of the industry.

Aaref Hejres said: “Being one of the most renowned property exhibitions for 2009, Cityscape Abu Dhabi gave us an ideal platform to display the progress of Diyar Al Muharraq to the region and promote it to the GCC and wider Middle East markets. We have masterplanned a model city on the northern shore of Muharraq where people of all strata would be able to find an ideal home.”

“We are proud that, despite the global crisis, our demand driven development is on track. Being a city for the people, we are looking forward to launch the first phase of affordable houses for the community later this year,” he added.

The development will offer a selection of freehold properties accessible to buyers across various income levels, and its extensive and varied indoor and outdoor leisure, commercial and retail facilities will open up a new way of living for residents and all the people of Bahrain.

Diyar Al Muharraq’s masterplan maps out a self-contained city with many accessible landscaped public spaces, incorporating around 40 kilometers of waterfront which includes sandy beaches and a marina. This will be among the largest publicly accessible waterfronts in the Kingdom. The development also includes provision for numerous community spaces and facilities, hotels, Bahrain’s largest shopping mall, first-rate business district, which are all underpinned by world-class infrastructure.
