Director General, Dubai Health Authority unveils the new Dubai Bone and Joint Centre in Dubai Healthcare City

To be the premier musculoskeletal treatment and research centre in the Middle East

Mr. Qadi S. Al Murooshid, Director General, Dubai Health Authority unveiled the new DBAJ medical facility at DHCC which is the leading center for musculoskeletal treatment and research in the Middle East.

Suzanne Al Houby, VP, DBAJ was present at the launch accompanied by Dr. Ayesha Mohammed Abdullah, Senior Vice President of DHCC, Ahmed Sharaf, CEO, Tatweer Investment, Khalid Al Malek, CEO of Tatweer and Dr. Muhaditha Al Hashemi, Deputy CEO of Tatweer, the city’s leading medical and healthcare VIPs besides other officials from Tatweer, the parent company of DBAJ.

Stressing on the importance of the role that the private healthcare sector will play in helping Dubai Health Authority achieve their objective of providing comprehensive and effective medical facilities and services, His Excellency Mr. Qadi S. Al Murooshid, Director General, Dubai Health Authority said, “DHA aims to realize the vision of the Emirate of Dubai and serve the objective of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum by adopting a strategy which is in line with the strategy for UAE and the services offered by DBAJ at DHCC reinforces that vision.”

Mr. Al Murooshid expects DBAJ to raise the bar of the services offered to patients in the UAE, as well as the rest of the region, with advanced treatment that is comparable to Western standards.

“We aim to offer Musculoskeletal patients in the Middle East superior treatments and the latest evidence-based and innovative medicine as well as surgical procedures comparable to international healthcare standards. This is part of our commitment to the best healthcare practice and the government's efforts to develop Dubai into a 'Center of Medical Excellence' for the region,” said Suzanne Al Houby Vice President, DBAJ.

Boasting world-class specialists and medical equipment, DBAJ offers treatment for various conditions ranging from children and adult spinal conditions, pelvic and acetabular fractures, reconstructive surgery, and rheumatology. It also offers total joint arthroplasty, revision total joint arthroplasty, limb lengthening and limb deformity correction, infective non-union surgery, foot deformities, neuromuscular disorders, sports medicine and ancillary services.

Al Houby also proudly announced that DBAJ is collaborating on a research project with the Amsterdam Medical Center and the establishment of the first Dubai / Holland Biotechnology Research company to help generate new insights on local gene therapy of Rheumatoid Arthritis: Arthrogen.

“This and our commitment to play a fundamental role in patient support and education is also revealed through founding the Emirates Arthritis Foundation, endorsed by Her Royal Highness Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai”, Al Houby added.

DBAJ is also authorized to provide and administer Continuing Medical Education Programs and is organizing a number of seminars where medical practitioners can obtain CME credits. “This forms part of the DBAJ’s CME Program, which serves to highlight our commitment to the medical community as well ”  concluded  Al Houby.

After the unveiling of DBAJ, Mr. Al Murooshid was given a tour of the entire medical facility and was briefed by the specialized experts of DBAJ about the various medical services, equipment and facilities that will be on offer.
