Deena Habib to Oversee Sun Microsystems Brand

Sun Microsystems Middle East and North Africa today announced the appointment of Deena Habib to the position of Marketing Manager for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

In her new position, Habib will be responsible for the positioning and promotion of the Sun Microsystems brand across 19 countries including Saudi Arabia, the Gulf (including Pakistan) and Levant (including Egypt) markets. Moreover, Habib will drive the marketing of Sun’s products and services, vertical industry and partner initiatives, PR and marketing communications, and direct marketing and events throughout the region to support Sun’s business goals and drive incremental revenue and demand.

Habib’s career at Sun Microsystems spans three years, during which she functioned as Systems Practice Program Manager, directing all system programs as well as the AMD Advantage program budget. She also held the position of Marketing Specialist for the MENA region and was responsible for the promotion of Sun’s channel development program to increase revenues through the company’s partner community.

“Deena brings a wealth of experience to her new position as Sun’s regional marketing manager, and is qualified to suit the significant responsibilities she is about to undertake,” said Chris Cornelius, managing director of Sun Microsystems MENA.

“She possesses valuable expertise in both channel and technology marketing, and in her previous positions at Sun, has displayed exceptional commitment and determination. These qualities are of key significance in reinforcing Sun’s presence in the region and boosting our visibility and share of voice in the market,” Cornelius added.

As a graduate in telecoms engineering, Habib has spent 18 years in the Middle East. She has held various marketing positions in the region including previous roles at IBM and Cable & Wireless.
