Najd Province, a Daesh affiliate in Saudi Arabia, claimed responsibility for the detonation of two explosive devices near the police station in Al Dalam and for setting fire to three police vehicles on Sunday.
Saudi spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour Al Turki for the Interior Ministry reported the death of one person killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) near the police station in Al Dalam. The statement, announced through the Saudi Press Agency, said the incident was under investigation. The victim's identity and citizenship still remain unknown.
Saudi news websites released images of the aftermath late Saturday night, showing police jeeps and SUVs on fire outside the police station in Al Dalam, located 100 kilometres southeast of the capital Riyadh.
