Consultation started Monday to choose a successor for the secretary general of the Islamist opposition Labor Party, Adel Hussein, who died last Tuesday.
According to Magdi Hussein, the editor-in-chief of the party’s mouth piece, the banned Al Sha’b paper, the party’s traditions dictate that the party members agree on a new leader without resorting to elections, stressing that “there is no hurry, since the party’s work is going ahead uninterrupted,” by the death of Hussein, who is Magdi’s uncle.
However, the death of the secretary, according to the nephew, is a great loss due to his leadership skills especially at the intellectual level.
Meanwhile, the chief editor said that the ban on the party should be lifted especially after the Labor Party has gained seven court rulings in its favor ordering the government to revoke its decision. A court hearing on Tuesday is expected to give the eighth ruling in the party’s favor, he said– Albawaba.com
