Community Development Authority partners with Al Majaless to launch activities in residential areas

In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Community Development Authority partnered with Al Majaless to launch activities in residential areas. The partnership marks the first line of activities that the Authority is undertaking to connect with Emirati’s and falls in line with its strategy to adopt local issues surrounding the local community. 

Commenting on the initiative, Her Excellency Dr. Mariam Matar, Director of Community Development Authority, said:  “Our aim, through these activities with Al Majaless, is to communicate, understand and identify the needs of the community who reside in these areas. We will be listening to their problems and comments and work with the concerned parties to find appropriate solutions to their issues, as well as activate the role of private and public Majaless and highlight the importance of its role  in connecting  members of the UAE society. "


Almost 74 members from various society groups attended the meeting, such as, Colonel Ahmad Al Hashemi from Dubai Police, Salem Al Tunaiji and retired Colonel Mohammed Al Jurn Abdul Rahman Al Hajj as well as Abdullah Mohammed from the from Dubai Courts and Hamad Al Rahoumi from the Fishermen Association. Other participants included, Omar Saif and media anchor Thani Belrqad as well as community members from Al Rashidiyah and other council's representatives. Leaders from the Community Development Authority also attended the session, such as, Ahmed Al Muhairi, CEO of the Community Centers; Mohammed Bin Haider, CEO of Social Programs and Dr Omar Al Muthanna, CEO Regulatory & Licensing Agency. 

The meeting began with a discussion of how the Authority will play a role in implementing the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 and how it will apply the best methods to provide welfare for all segments in society.

Ahmed Al Muhairi stressed the activation of the role of councils as one of the official channels of communication, as a means to the development of society. Mohammed Bakkar Bin Haider explained the objectives of the social benefits programme, citing various services it is providing as well as its strategic role in setting housing standards. Dr. Omar Al Muthanna spoke about the regulations and licensing department and how it ensures providing licenses to professional, individuals and institutions that contribute to the social development of the UAE.


The attendees also discussed a number of prevailing issues, including Emiratization and how to make use from the expertise of retirees and older people from the community, and the role of the Authority in supporting that. Hamad Al Rahoumi from the Fishermen Association urged leaders to leverage their presence in the council to discuss sensitive issues with the local community members. He called for unifying efforts in the social field in cooperating with existing organizations, asking for energizing social services related to marital and family conflicts. From his side, Salem Al Tunaiji noted that the Rashidiyah council is a communication interactive platform between the CDA and community members. He complained that Rashidiyah hosts labour camps and singles' accommodation amongst residential neighborhoods and families residences.


Dr. Maryam reiterated: "These are the next steps that CDA is preparing to implement through the people's councils, which will see happen throughout the year." She noted the importance of maintaining communication with the councils to get a closer look on needs and challenges faced by its members. and added that the Authority adopts such issues and tries to find solutions to serve the community in the UAE by partnering up with local and federal authorities.
