"I am very happy that the institute has been opened in my wife's name," he told the gathering for the inaugural function of the Hillary Clinton Center for Multimedia Technology. Mrs Clinton was recently elected senator for New York.

The village people garlanded him and performed a folk dance in his honor.

He also inaugurated another institute for technology at the village, as well as an education centre named after himself.

The former US president was scheduled to return to the Indian capital New Delhi in the evening and then later drive down to Jaipur, the capital of the northwestern Rajasthan state.
