Bulgaria president visits Turkey for talks

Bulgarian President Georgi Purvanov departed from Sofia on Tuesday on a three-day visit to Turkey in response to an invitation extended by Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.

Political aide to the president Georgi told <i>KUNA</i> that the visit comes to boost bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as to acquaint Turkish officials with Bulgaria's progress in political, economic and commercial sectors in preparation for joining the EU and in light of its candidacy for the NATO.
